It took me three years to learn Tajweed.
When I began studying Tajweed properly, I found the material dense. There were definitions, rules, lists of letters and Arabic terminology, but very few visuals to help me see what I was learning.
Subhan'Allah, I still remember what it felt like to be the student trying to understand and remember all of those concepts.
But by the time I came to teach Tajweed myself, I was also a trained teacher. So I kept asking: How could I show this visually? Is there a simpler way to explain this? What would help a student remember the rule and recognise it when she sees it in the Mus'haf?
That's what led me to create diagrams, visual explanations, mnemonics and carefully chosen Quranic examples to make Tajweed easier to understand and apply.
Those explanations became Tajweed Made Easy, shaped by what I'd learned as a Tajweed student and how I knew I wanted to teach as an educator.

Tajweed Made Easy is a visual course. Every rule is taught through diagrams, mnemonics and Quranic examples, so you understand what is happening and recognise it when you open your Mus'haf.
If you can already read Arabic, even slowly, you can begin. Whether you learned Quran growing up, studied Tajweed before, or have been trying to teach yourself, the course takes you through the foundations step by step.
The lessons are short. Ten minutes a day is enough to work through a lesson and practise what it teaches, and because the course is self-paced you can return to any explanation whenever you want to revise it.

What will you learn?
By the end of Tajweed Made Easy, you'll know the foundational rules that affect the way you pronounce and recite the Quran.
You'll learn how Arabic letters are articulated, what distinguishes similar sounds, how elongation works, when letters are pronounced heavily or lightly, and how rules such as Nun Sakinah, Tanween and Mim Sakinah apply.
You'll also learn about stopping and beginning, giving you a structured foundation to bring back to your Quran recitation.
By Module 13, Tajweed shows up naturally in your recitation. You see a sukoon on a qaaf and give it qalqalah. You reach a madd and hold it for the correct count. You come to a waqf sign and know whether to stop or continue. You'll feel the rules as you recite, Bi'ithnillah.

I'm Maryam El-Kiki, a Hafidhah, Quran teacher and trained educator.
I hold a Bachelor of Education and Master of Teaching (Secondary) and have experience working as an EALD teacher.
My teacher training shaped the way I approach difficult concepts. Hearing an explanation isn't enough. I wanted my students to be able to see what was happening, connect the information to something memorable and then practise using it.
After more than ten years teaching Quran, Tajweed Made Easy brings together my experience as a Tajweed student, Quran teacher and trained classroom teacher.
